Submit an Obituary or Research Request

The Clearwater Main Library has archive access to the Clearwater Sun (January 1925-May 1989), the St. Petersburg Times/Tampa Bay Times (1970-present) newspapers. It also has access to historical area city directories and some local yearbooks.

Please use this form to request an obituary published in one or more of these newspapers or for other research. Please provide as much information as possible. 

Steps

Step 1.Gather as much information as you have available

The following information is useful in your obituary request:

  • Name of Deceased
  • Date of Birth (if known)
  • Date of Death
  • Last Known Residence

Step 2.Please note

  • Research obituary/requests are limited to three (3) per year, per person or entity.
  • We cannot research without a date of death, and we will only search the paper for the week following that date.
  • Sometimes, the information you are seeking may not have been published in the newspaper.

Step 3.Fill out the form and submit

Please request an obituary or research using this form.

Step 4.You can expect a response by e-mail with the results of our research within 28 days.

There is no charge for this service, but you are welcome to make a donation to the Friends of the Clearwater Public Library and/or the Clearwater Library Foundation, should you wish.
