Drive-Through Service Policy

Purpose

The Clearwater Public Library System offers a variety of drive-through services at its Countryside and East Community Library at St. Petersburg College branch locations for the safety and convenience of its patrons.

Policy

A number of library services are available to patrons via the drive-through including holds pickup, materials renewal and return, new card registration, expired card renewal, and pickup of specified program kits. Payments cannot be made through the drive-through.

For the safety of patrons and staff, drive-through service is reserved for patrons in trucks, SUVs, and cars, and on motorcycles. Patrons who walk, bike, or use any other form of transportation are not permitted to use the drive-through service, but may request curbside assistance.

Procedures

Holds Pickup

Patrons may check out and pick up their available holds through the drive-through window by presenting a current library card or a photo ID. When requesting items, please choose the Countryside or East Community Library’s “drive-through” option as a pick-up location.

Returns

Items can be returned through the drive-through window as well as through the stationary book returns adjacent to the drive-through window.

Item Renewals

Patrons may renew their current items through the drive-through window by presenting a current library card or a photo ID.

New Card Registration

Current residents or property owners of Pinellas County may register for a library card through the drive-through window by presenting a current photo ID. If a patron’s current Pinellas County residential address is not listed on the ID, the patron must also present proof of residence using an official document. Expired Card Renewal

Patrons can renew their expired privileges through the drive-through window by presenting a current photo ID. If a patron’s current Pinellas County residential address is not listed on the ID, the patron must also present proof of residence using an official document.

Program Kits

Kits for virtual programs may be picked up through the drive-through. When registering for the program, please choose the Countryside or East Community Library’s “drive-through” option as a pick-up location.
